BATON ROUGE, La. ? The University of Kentucky softball team will wrap up its five-game Southeastern Conference road swing on Tuesday, Apr. 3, when it takes on No. 6 LSU. The doubleheader is set for a 5 p.m. start at Tiger Park in Baton Rouge.

The Wildcats are currently 17-14 overall and 4-10 in SEC play after dropping three at Arkansas over the weekend. Kentucky set a new school record with three home runs over the weekend to break the record for home runs in a season. UK has hit 38 bombs this season, breaking the previous record of 37 set in 2004.

Senior shortstop Brooke Marnitz continues to lead the Wildcat offense with a .415 average, 13 home runs and 43 RBI. Senior Katie Campbell is batting .396 with a team-high 10 doubles to go along with eight home runs and 27 RBI, while freshman Natalie Smith is hitting .389 with five doubles, three triples and a team-high eight stolen bases.

LSU leads the SEC Western Division with a record of 35-5 and a 10-2 mark in conference play after sweeping Auburn last weekend. LSU is 23-1 at home this year and has won six straight entering Tuesday night?s twinbill.

Killian Roessner leads LSU with a .419 average, followed by Leslie Klein who is batting .410 with five home runs and a team-best 39 RBI. Freshman Jazz Jackson is also hitting above the .400 mark at .403 with nine RBI, 29 runs scored and 13 stolen bases.

The Tiger pitching staff has a team ERA of 1.15, led by Dani Hofer who is 14-1 with 156 strikeouts on the season. Emily Turner is 12-4 with a 1.29 ERA in 16 starts this season. Turner has recorded 118 strikeouts in 98.0 innings of work this year.

LSU leads 20-1 in the all-time series, including a 3-0 sweep of the Wildcats last season in Lexington. UK?s lone win over LSU came in head coach Eileen Schmidt?s first season at the helm. The Wildcats topped the Tigers by a final of 5-1 on Apr. 9, 2005, in Baton Rouge.
