Kentucky Seeded 13th at 2025 SEC Softball Tournament

ATHENS, Ga. – The Kentucky Softball team earned the No. 13 seed for the 2025 Southeastern Conference Softball Tournament and will open play Tuesday at 1 p.m. ET against the 12th-seeded Georgia Bulldogs live on SEC Network.

The tournament is being hosted this season by the University of Georgia at Jack Turner Stadium in Athens.

Kentucky and Georgia did not play in the regular season, as Tuesday’s meeting will be the team’s first meeting since last April, when Kentucky took two of three from the Bulldogs at John Cropp Stadium. UK finished SEC play with a 7-17 record with Georgia closing league play sporting a 7-16 mark in league play this season. Georgia won the tiebreaker for the No. 12 seed due to winning percentage, having played one less conference game after UGA lost a game on its schedule with Texas A&M due to rain last month.

UK will be looking to win its first SEC Tournament game since it beat Georgia in 2021, as the Wildcats have been eliminated in the first round each of the past three seasons. The Wildcats and Bulldogs last met in the SEC Tournament in 2021, when Kentucky shutout the Bulldogs 3-0 in the opening round of the tournament.

SEC regular season champion Oklahoma is the top seed in the tournament with (2) Texas A&M, (3) Texas and (4) Tennessee all earning double byes and will play their first games on Thursday.
