The University of Kentucky softball team returns to action this week as it heads to Bloomington, Ind., for a Wednesday twinbill with the Hoosiers. The non-conference doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. at the IU Varsity Softball Field.

The Wildcats (18-22) have won four straight after sweeping a pair of doubleheaders from Ohio and Western Kentucky last week in Lexington. The Cats had a pair of shutout wins over the Bobcats before winning two one-run games over the Hilltoppers.

Junior Katie Campbell continues to lead the Wildcat offense. She is batting .333 (37-for-111) and belted two homeruns during the Cats? doubleheaders with Ohio and WKU to raise her team-high total to six. With those homers, Campbell now has 18 for her three-year career and needs just one home run to tie the school record which is currently held by Amber Janneck with 19 career homers. Campbell also leads the team with 34 RBI, eight doubles and a .586 slugging percentage.

Indiana has lost five consecutive games, falling at Michigan and Michigan State, to move to 18-17-1 on the year. The Hoosiers are led by Lauren Hines who is batting .417 (43-for-103) with seven home runs and 21 RBI.

This is the 10th meeting between the two schools. UK holds a 6-3 advantage in the all-time series after defeating IU 4-2 in their last meeting which came on Apr. 28, 2004, in Lexington.

?Indiana is a little bit like us,? said Schmidt. ?They?re in a tough conference and trying to re-build the program. It should be a good game when we go head-to-head tomorrow.?
