Oxford, Miss. ? The Kentucky softball team dropped its third and final game of a weekend series 9-0 to the Ole Miss Rebels Sunday at the UM Softball Complex in Oxford, Miss. The Rebels hit two home runs in the game, which ended in the fifth inning due to the eight-run mercy rule.

Ole Miss (6-16, 2-1 Southeastern Conference) attacked UK early and scored two in the second inning, as Brittany Warner drove in Mandy Ott and Rebecca McIntrye with an RBI double to right center. UM tacked on two in the third on a two-run home run from DeDe Justice, giving UM a 4-0 lead through three frames. The Rebels delivered the final knockout in the fourth, as Justice drove in three runs with her second homer of the day deep over the left field wall. The blast completed a four-hit and five-run inning for the Rebels, forcing the game to end after the top of the fifth.

Mary Jane Callahan (6-7) won her second game of the series, as she threw all five innings and gave up only two hits to the Cats. UK (13-10-1, 2-7 SEC) tossed three hurlers in the loss, as Amy Kendall took the loss after giving up the first two runs to the Rebels.

The Cats return to action on March 17-18, when they travel to Athens, Ga., to face No. 6 Georgia in a three-game series.
