LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky softball program has hired Brandee McArthur as its newest assistant coach, it was announced Friday by Coach Beth Kirchner.

A 1999 graduate of University of the Pacific, McArthur has spent the past two years playing professional softball and instructing at youth softball clinics. For the past two summers she has played professional softball with the Ohio Pride and the Carolina Diamonds. McArthur spent the past summer playing on the Crocetta Italian softball team as one of only two foreign players permitted on the roster.

The Villa Park, Calif., native graduated from the University of the Pacific as a four-year letterwinner in softball. The pitcher holds the records for most career wins, strikeouts and shutouts.

“I’m really pleased that a person with Brandee’s softball pedigree has joined our staff,” Kirchner said. “She will be an asset in our quest for an SEC Championship.”

McArthur spent the last academic year as a kindergarten teacher in California.

She will join Kirchner and assistant coach Linda Cook on the UK staff and assist in on-field coaching and recruiting.
