University of Kentucky softball players Leslie Kwiatkowski and Angie Dal Pozzo were named Academic All-District IV, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced. Both were named to the first team and will be on the ballot for Academic All-America honors.

Kwiatkowski, a senior with a major in accounting, was named Verizon Academic All-American last year and is a three-time Academic All-Southeastern Conference pick. This is the third time she has been named Academic All-District. She also was a National Fastpitch Coaches Association Academic All-American and was inducted into UK’s Society of Virtue. Kwiatkowski leads the team in doubles and stolen bases, and is tied for the lead in runs. She has started every game as a Wildcat and tops seven career categories for the school. Kwiatkowski is in the top three in the SEC in four categories.

Dal Pozzo, a junior with a major in mechanical engineering, was an Academic All-District choice last year and is a two-time Academic All-SEC honoree. She also was inducted into UK’s Society of Virtue and has been on the Dean’s List. The Kentucky shortstop leads the Wildcats in hits, triples, batting average, home runs, RBI, slugging percentage, assists, and is tied for the lead in runs. She already has broken four school records this season and is on course to break three more. In the SEC, she tops the league in three categories and occupies a spot in the top ten in six other categories. In order to be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve and have a GPA of 3.20 or higher.
