CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The University of Kentucky softball team defeatedthe Liberty Lady Flames, 8-3, on Saturday afternoon at the Choo ChooTournament.

UK (5-9) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Beth Foglescored from third on a base hit by Leslie Kwiatkowski. Fogle reached on a basehit and then stole second and third before scoring on Kwiatkowski’s single.

In the bottom of the third inning, UK pitcher Keary Camunas walked intwo runs with the bases loaded, allowing LU to take a 2-1 lead.

Junior Tiffany Kruse stroked a double to left center, scoring LeslieKwiatkowski from first base to the tie the game, 2-2. UK took the lead in thetop of the fifth when the Cats added four runs with the help of two errors bythe Lady Flames. Jen Howland, Fogle, Nikki Jones, and Lyndsey Angus scored fourconsecutive runs as the Cats never looked back.

The Cats added two runs in the top of the seventh when Angus doubled toscore Jones from first base. Kruse grounded out to second base, scoring Angusfrom third base.

UK pitcher Keary Camunas moved her record to 2-6 with the win,while AmyCisder fell to 0-2 for the Lady Flames. Fogle led the Cats at the plate, going3-4 with three singles and two stolen bases. Kruse was 2-4 with a single and adouble to go along with two RBIs.

UK returns to action on Sunday when the Cats take on Marshall at 10:30a.m. and will close out the tournament against Temple at 12:30 p.m.
