LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky softball team fell to the Georgia Bulldogs inboth games Saturday afternoon at the UK Softball Complex.

The Bulldogs captured the four-game series against the Wildcats, aftersplitting two games on Friday evening.In the first game, UK (18-28, 3-9 Southeastern Conference) built a 2-1lead, going into the top of the fifth where the Bulldogs (24-15, 9-3)struck for three runs, giving UGA a 4-2 advantage.UGA added another run in the top of the sixth to earn a 5-2 victory overthe Wildcats.

Natalie Price picked up the win for UGA while UK’s Keary Camunas fell to11-12 with the loss.

Leslie Kwiatkowski and Angie Dal Pozzo each had two hits apiece for theCats. Dal Pozzo hit a triple, had an RBI, and scored a run.In the second game, UK got on the board first when Tiffany Kruse tripledwith two outs in the bottom of the first. Kwiatkowski reached base on anerror and Kruse scored on the play, giving UK a 1-0 lead.

UGA put one run across in the top of the third to tie the game. With two outs in the top of the fifth, the Bulldogs scored three runs tolead UK, 4-1.

UK’s best scoring opportunity came in the bottom of the seventh inning.Sandi Dengler reached base on an error followed by back-to-back singles byAndy Eilertson and Michelle Bucci. Pinch hitter Colleen Boddy hit into afielder’s choice and Dengler was thrown out at home. Liz Love pinch hit forleadoff batter Beth Fogle, but struck out swinging. Kwiatkowski was thefinal hope for the Wildcats but struck out to give UGA a 4-2 win.

UK pitcher Jennifer Howland struck out four batters but took the loss,moving her record to 4-8. UGA’s Rhonda Coffelt picked the win while Priceearned the save.

Kruse and Bucci led the Wildcats at the plate with two hits apiece.UK returns to action on Tuesday afternoon when the Wildcats travel toDayton, Ohio to face the Dayton Flyers in a scheduled doubleheaderbeginning at 3 p.m.
