LEXINGTON, Ky. – A perfect day at the dish from Mackenzie Sykes paved the way for No. 3 seed Missouri to an 8-0 (5) win over No. 6 seed Arkansas in the third quarterfinal matchup of the Southeastern Conference Tournament in Lexington, Ky., on Thursday. Sykes logged a 3-for-3 outing with a double, triple, three RBI and a pair of runs scored for the Tigers.
Missouri advances to face the winner of No. 2 Tennessee and No. 10 South Carolina on Friday at 3:30 p.m. ET. The game will air live on ESPNU.
The Tigers jumped out to an early 2-0 advantage with runs in the bottom half of the first. Sykes logged her first RBI of the day with a single in the stanza.
Missouri then struck for a trio of tallies in both the third and fifth innings. The three runs in the fifth ended the game with the instituted run-rule in effect of eight runs through five innings of play.
