Plotts’ Three Homers Power Kentucky to Sweep of Boston
BOSTON – The Kentucky Softball team swept a doubleheader with Boston University on Friday afternoon as UK won an eight-inning affair 4-3 to start the day and then exploded for six home runs in game two, beating the Terriers 13-4 in five innings.
Peyton Plotts had three home runs on the day as she drove in four runs, including the most important of the afternoon as she broke the tie in the top of the eighth inning with a one-out home run to left field as Kentucky took the 4-3 lead. The Wildcats then closed out the game with a 1-2-3 bottom of the eighth to wrap up the first of the twin billing.
In the second game of the day, Kentucky tied the program record with six home runs in a single game as the Wildcats bashed six home runs out of the ballpark by five different batters and got a dynamic pitching performance from Sydney Langdon to shut down the Terriers offense as Kentucky swept the doubleheader, 13-4. In the circle, Carson Fall was terrific in game one, throwing the final 3.2 innings of the game and collecting her fourth win of the season with four strikeouts in the contest without surrendering a run in the outing.
With the pair of wins, Kentucky is now nine games above .500 on the season and sports a 26-17 record on the year. Boston’s 12-game winning streak was snapped Friday afternoon with the losses and the Terriers fall to 26-13. With impending weather moving into the Boston area over the weekend, the rest of the scheduled games on the weekend have been cancelled.
Kentucky will next play Western Kentucky on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. ET from John Cropp Stadium in Lexington. The game will be broadcast live on SEC Network+ and the ESPN app.
