
Early Runs Push No. 13 Stanford Past Kentucky
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 13 Stanford Cardinal defeated Kentucky 9-1 at John Cropp Stadium on Tuesday night. Stanford struck for four runs on five hits in the top of the first and didn’t look back, as they tacked on runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to take the midweek win.
Kentucky’s run came in the bottom of the fourth inning as Cassie Reasner logged Kentucky’s only hit of the night on a barreled ball up the middle to score Anna Mauck from second for an RBI single as UK put together its best scoring threat of the game to cut the SU lead to one.
Sarah Haendiges pitched admirably in the game for UK, as she logged 4.0 innings in relief Tuesday night with only two earned runs tagged to her, three walks and five strikeouts. Carson Fall was UK’s third pitcher of the game and used her offspeed pitches well to throw off the rhythm of the Stanford offense to get two strikeouts in 2.2 innings pitched.
Kentucky will next play at No. 14 Arkansas for a three-game series at Bogle Park in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The series kicks off Friday night at 7 p.m. ET with a game broadcasted on SEC Network+. The series continues with a 5 p.m. ET game Saturday afternoon and a game three finale Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.Stanford improves to 24-3 on the season with Tuesday night’s win. Kentucky falls to 21-12.

The key play for Kentucky was by Cassie Reasner, who hammered a ball into CF to score Anna Mauck as the Wildcats got on the scoreboard.

The key player was Carson Fall, who pitched the final 2.2 innings for UK and got a pair of strikeouts.
