Kentucky Softball Begins 2021 Ranked 13th in NFCA Coaches’ Poll

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky Softball team was slotted at No. 13 in the initial release of the National Fastpitch Coaches’ Association top-25 poll, it was announced by the organization on Tuesday morning.
 
Kentucky is one of nine teams from the Southeastern Conference to be ranked in the top-25 to start the season, paced by No. 5 LSU and No. 7 Florida. Also ranked from the SEC is Alabama (8), Georgia (14), Arkansas (18), South Carolina (19), Mississippi State (20), Missouri (23). UK is the fourth-highest ranked SEC team to begin the 2021 season.
 
Currently on the schedule, Kentucky is going to be playing 15 games against five teams ranked inside the top 20 of the initial poll.
 
The Wildcats season kicks off on February 12 in Homewood, Alabama with a three-game series against the Samford Bulldogs on the road.
 
UCLA was the consensus No. 1 team in the nation, receiving all 32 first-place votes after finishing the 2020 condensed season with a 25-1 record, and still retaining its title as the 2019 defending national champions.
