Wildcats Fall at Mississippi State, 4-0

STARKVILLE, Miss. – The No. 14 Kentucky women’s tennis dropped a 4-0 decision to Mississippi State at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre in Starkville, Mississippi, on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats move to 11-5 overall, including a 3-3 mark in Southeastern Conference play, while the Bulldogs are 12-5, 3-3 SEC.
 
The Bulldogs took the first point of the match earning doubles wins on courts three and one. Kentucky’s tandem of Lesedi Jacobs and Justina Mikulskyte led 5-4 on court two as play ceased.
 
Freshman Brianna Tulloch fell in straight sets on court six to give Mississippi State a two-point lead, but all five additional courts would go all the way to third sets.
 
The Bulldogs took a 3-0 lead as Jacobs fell 6-4, 3-6, 6-0 in No. 5 singles and sealed the team victory as Diana Tkachenko was defeated 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 on court four.
 
Seniors Emily Fanning and Mami Adachi each led in the third sets of their respective matches as play was suspended.
 
Kentucky will return home to the Boone Tennis Complex next weekend, welcoming in Georgia at 6 p.m. ET on Friday and Tennessee on Sunday at noon.
