Julia Zhu Named to SEC All-Freshman Team

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky women’s tennis freshman Julia Zhu has been named to the Southeastern Conference All-Freshman Team, the conference announced on Wednesday.

A native of Berlin, Germany, Zhu began her Wildcat journey in January joining the squad for the 2024 spring season quickly making a name for herself on the court.

In singles competition, Zhu was a consistent player for the Cats as concluded the season with an overall record of 11-8 seeing action in most matches. Her 11 victories included a win in the first round of the SEC Tournament and four regular season conference triumphs.

In doubles play, Zhu was paired with teammates Zoe Hammond, Lidia Gonzalez, and Maialen Morante throughout the season. With her doubles partners she tallied a 4-9 overall record.

The award is the freshman’s first conference and postseason honor of her Kentucky women’s tennis career.
