Kentucky Set to Open 2018 Campaign at Miami Spring Invite
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Tennis season is finally here. The No. 21 Kentucky women’s tennis team will officially see its first action of 2018 this weekend, traveling to Coral Gables, Florida, for the Miami Spring Invite. The Wildcats will face off against No. 19 Miami, No. 2 Vanderbilt and Ohio State in the three-day event.
The first competition of the season will prove to be challenging, as the field includes seven players ranked inside the Oracle/ITA top 100 in singles, and four doubles teams ranked inside the top 50 nationally.
Junior Akvile Paražinskaite leads the way for the Wildcats, ranked No. 26 to open singles play this season.
Competition is set to begin with doubles competition at 9 a.m. ET each day, followed by singles play at 9:45 a.m.
Kentucky will kick off action Friday, playing Ohio State in doubles and Vanderbilt in singles. On Saturday, the Wildcats will take on Miami in doubles and the Buckeyes in singles. UK will wrap up the tournament Sunday, facing the Commodores in doubles and Miami in singles.
