Kentucky Softball Selected for Nine National Television Games
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of
Kentucky softball team will appear in front of a national television audience
at least nine times in 2017, it was announced Thursday as ESPN and its family
of networks unveiled its Southeastern Conference softball television schedule.
Two games at John Cropp Stadium will be
showcased to a national television audience, including a non-conference midweek
showdown on April 5 at 7 p.m. ET on the SEC Network versus Western Kentucky and
one game of the Senior Weekend series vs. Texas A&M on April 30.
All games that are shown on ESPN family of
networks will also be live streamed in HD on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app as
well on computers, laptops, smart phones and tablets.
ESPN is again bringing back its “Bases Loaded”
coverage on the final Friday of the regular season, May 5. The SEC Network will
be showing whip-around coverage from 7 p.m. to the conclusion of all games that
night around the league going in and out of games similar to the NFL’s “RedZone
Channel”. The entire broadcast of Kentucky’s game vs. Mississippi State that
night will be available on the SEC Network+ and ESPN3.
Kentucky will again be featured as part of the
“SEC Network Series of the Week” March 18-20 in Athens, Georgia as the Wildcats
face the UGA Bulldogs on Saturday, Sunday and Monday with all three games shown
live on the SEC Network.
UK will also have televised games at Ole Miss
with the April 1 game shown live on ESPNU and the April 2 game broadcast on the
SEC Network.
For the third year, SEC Network is slated to air every first round and
second round game in the SEC Softball Championship May 10 and 11. SEC Network’s
on-site studio plans for the tournament will be announced closer to the event’s
date. The semifinals will air on ESPNU on May 12 and the championship on ESPN
on May 13.
