LEXINGTON, Ky. — For the first time since its first trip to the Women’s College World Series, the University of Kentucky softball team will hit the field for game action as it gets ready to play eight games this fall, including three at John Cropp Stadium, head coach Rachel Lawson has announced.

The fall slate begins on Saturday, Sept. 20 when Kentucky host Georgetown College for a single game at noon ET at John Cropp Stadium. The Wildcats will conclude the home portion of the schedule on Sunday, Sept. 28 with a doubleheader against Ohio State starting at 11 a.m. ET.

Admission to all fall home games is free of charge, while free parking is available in the lots surrounding John Cropp Stadium.

UK will play five road games to conclude fall action, starting with three games in two days against Michigan on Oct. 4-5 at Alumni Field in Ann Arbor, Mich. The fall schedule ends with a doubleheader on Sunday, Oct. 12 against EKU in Richmond, Ky.

Kentucky ended the 2014 season ranked sixth in both the USA Today/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Top 25 and ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 – its highest final rankings in program history. The rankings put the final stamp on the winningest season in UK softball history with the Wildcats earning 50 wins and advancing to the Women’s College World Series. Kentucky started the season with 12 consecutive wins, marking the longest winning streak in school history and the best start to a season in program history.

The Wildcats ended the season by making the most successful run in program history in two of the game’s most prestigious tournaments. UK advanced to the championship game of the Southeastern Conference Tournament in early May before winning the NCAA Lexington Regional and NCAA Los Angeles Super Regional to claim its first ever appearance in the WCWS. All told, UK defeated a school-record 15 ranked teams in 2014, including six wins over top-10 teams.
