LEXINGTON, Ky. – Due to the threat of inclement weather moving into the Lexington area Sunday morning, the No. 21 University of Kentucky softball team will play a doubleheader on Saturday against Mississippi State to conclude the three-game series. Sunday’s schedule has been canceled. Admission to the games Saturday will be free of charge.
The first game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. ET first pitch with game two tentatively starting 20 minutes after the completion of the first game.
Kentucky (21-8, 3-4 Southeastern Conference) won the first game of the series Friday night in dramatic fashion, getting a 10th-inning, walk-off homer from senior Alice O’Brien to capture a 5-4 win. It was her second homer of the game. Freshman pitcher Kelsey Nunley got the win in the circle not allowing a run over nine strong innings.
