LEXINGTON, Ky. – Four University of Kentucky softball players were named to the Capital One Academic All-District teams it was announced Friday. This marks the most honors in a single year in school history.
Seniors Meagan Aull and Megan Yocke, junior Rachel Riley and sophomore Kara Dill were all honored by Capital One and the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Aull leads the way for the Blue and White with a selection to the first team and a chance to compete for Academic All-America honors. A senior from Owensboro, Ky., Aull is a Biology major with a 3.87 cumulative grade point average. Aull aspires to become a dentist following the completion of her undergraduate degree. On the field, she is having a banner year with a career-best .373 batting average, eight home runs and 17 stolen bases.
Dill and Riley were both named to the All-District second team squad in the infield and as a pitcher, respectively. Yocke was tabbed third team All-District as a catcher. These mark the first such honors for all four players in their careers.
Riley has been a tremendous force both in the circle and at the plate for UK this season. She is batting a career-best .372 with seven homers and 25 RBI. She is 11-4 as a starting pitcher with a 2.83 ERA and 57 strikeouts tossed on the year. Riley is a junior from Bowling Green, Ky., and is a Biology major with a 3.82 grade point average.
Dill, a sophomore from LaGrange, Ohio, is a dual-major in Exercise Science and Psychology with a 3.71 grade point average. UK’s starting shortstop paces the squad with a .387 batting clip and 18 stolen bases on the year. She has career-highs in doubles, triples and on-base percentage.
Yocke owns a career-high .346 batting clip with career-bests in home runs (10) and stolen bases (10) in her final campaign. She has started every game of her career and owns a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage as a catcher this season. A senior from Sunnyvale, Calif., Yocke is a Kinesiology major with a 3.54 grade point average.
The Wildcats return to action for a three-game series with No. 23 Auburn beginning Friday May 6 at 7 p.m. ET.
