BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior outfielder Meagan Aull has been named to the Southeastern Conference Community Service team it was announced by the league office Wednesday.
Aull an Owensboro, Ky., native has started in all 216 games of her career in center field for the Blue and White. This marks the first such honor of her career.
The SEC sponsors Community Service Team for all 20 league sponsored sports. The Community Service Team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to her community in superior service efforts.
Aull’s community service efforts include Big Blue U, God’s Pantry Food Drive, Susan G. Koman Race for the Cure, Salvation, American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, Special Olympics, Circle of Love, SEC Together We Can Food Drive, Jesus Prom, Southland Church and Habitat for Humanity.
Kentucky’s senior captain is a two-time All-SEC Academic team performer and was named the SEC Player of the Week in April after guiding UK to a sweep of No. 5 Florida. Aull batted .500 for the weekend and blasted four homers in the series, including two in a single inning in the series finale.
Aull has helped lead the Wildcats to three consecutive seasons of 30 or more victories and three straight appearances in the SEC Tournament for the first time in school history. She ranks among UK’s all-time career leaders in games played, hits, runs scored, batting average, stolen bases, home runs, doubles, slugging percentage and total bases. A permanent starter from the moment she arrived on campus, Aull has manned the field in the center of the outfield and committed just four errors in her entire career including just two in her final three seasons combined.
UK will return to action to wrap-up the regular season with a series against No. 23 Auburn beginning Friday, May 6. First pitch on Friday is set for 7 p.m. ET.
