AKRON, Ohio – Kentucky assistant softball coach Lyndsey Angus was a vital member of the Rockford Thunder’s capturing of the 2009 Pro Softball Championship this weekend in Akron, Ohio.

Angus started at first base and batted clean-up in the Thunder’s title run. In a 7-2 victory over Akron to advance to the Championship series Angus went 1-for-3 at the dish. She plated a score with her single and then rounded home herself.

After the USSSA Pride captured Game One in the Championship series, the Thunder roared back with a 2-0 victory in game two. Angus was instrumental in that victory going 2-for-3 at the plate.

In the deciding victory, it was Angus once again coming up with a huge play at the plate. Angus was able to score Shanel Scott from third on a masterful sacrifice bunt for the winning run as the Thunder would go on to secure a 2-0 victory to claim the title.

Cat Osterman took home MVP honors for Rockford after picking up both victories in the Championship series. In the final game Osterman allowed just one base runner in her winning effort.
