The Kentucky softball team returns to Southeastern Conference action this weekend when they play host to the Bulldogs of Mississippi State. Action begins Saturday with a doubleheader at 1 p.m., and the series will conclude Sunday with a contest beginning at the same time.
The Cats (15-16-1, 3-12 SEC) are coming off a mid-week split with Louisville. The Cards downed UK 4-0 before UK charged back for a 3-2 win in game two. Amber Janneck gave UK an early 1-0 lead in the first, and after Brooke Marnitz scored on a wild pitch, UL tied the game in the sixth. Emily Marks gave the Cats the go-ahead run in the bottom of the frame on a sacrifice fly to center that scored Megan Brooks.
The Bulldogs (20-17, 2-10 SEC) enter the series on a four-game losing skid after being swept by Tennessee last weekend and dropping a mid-week game at Southern Miss. MSU leads the all-time series 11-7, including a 4-3 mark when playing in Lexington.
