The Kentucky softball team will be holding its annual Winter Fastpitch Softball Camp on December 30, Coach Beth Pruitt announced Tuesday. The camp will consist of three sessions for girls ages 8-18 and will be held at Nutter Fieldhouse next to Commonwealth Stadium on the UK campus.

The 2003 Winter Camp will feature expert instruction from the UK Softball coaching staff, area high school coaches and members of the UK softball team. The camp will be broken up into three sessions. The morning session will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and will emphasize hitting fundamentals.

The second session, from noon to 2 p.m., will be for pitchers and catchers. All pitchers must bring their own catcher, and all catchers must bring their own equipment to participate in the second session. The staff will give instruction to both positions, and the last session from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. will emphasize defensive fundamentals.

The cost of the camp is 30 dollars for each session or a discounted rate of 75 dollars if you attend all three sessions. If five or more applications are mailed together, the rate will be discounted to 25 dollars for each session or 75 for all three. This cost includes camp fee and excess accident/medical insurance (your health insurance will be primary). Deadline for mailing in the registration form and fee is December 19, but walk ups will be welcome.
