The University of Kentucky softball team (9-18, 1-8) will travel to Tuscaloosa this weekend to take on the 18th-ranked Crimson Tide of Alabama (22-10, 5-1), March 22-23. Saturday’s doubleheader will begin at 2 p.m. ET while the series finale on Sunday is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. ET.
The Wildcats are coming off a tough series with No. 11 Georgia. The Bulldogs swept the series which included a one-hit shutout in the finale. The Crimson Tide are coming off non-conference wins over Troy State and Southern Mississippi.
UA is led by Jennifer Reach who has a .381 batting average. Staci Ramsey is batting .588 in conference play. On the mound, all three Tide pitchers have an ERA under 2.00. They are led by Stephanie VanBrakle who has a 1.26 ERA and a 6-3 record (3-0 in the SEC).
Alabama head coach Patrick Murphy is in his fifth season at Alabama where he has amassed a 223-82 overall record.
Alabama and Kentucky have met on 14 occasions with the Crimson Tide taking all 14.
