The University of Kentucky softball team travels to Palo Alto, Calif., this weekend to participate in the Stanford Invitational. The Wildcats (1-4) will face host Stanford, currently ranked 14th, plus Big Ten opponents Penn State and Missouri.

UK opens the tournament on Valentine’s Day with a game against Missouri at 4:15 p.m. Eastern. The Tigers are 4-1 on the season, their only loss coming to Auburn in the championship game of the Auburn Invitational. Missouri leads the series with Kentucky 3-0, with the last meeting coming in 1999.

The second game pits the Wildcats against host Stanford at 8:45 p.m. Eastern. The Cardinal come in with a No. 14 ranking. Kentucky has never faced Stanford, who is currently 5-2.

On the second day of the invitational, the Wildcats will face Penn State, who will be playing in their first tournament of the season. Kentucky has faced the Nittany Lions once, a 3-0 loss in 2000.
