LEXINGTON, Ky. –
The University of Kentucky softball team will look to end a season-long four-game losing streak as the Cats play host to Akron in a doubleheader scheduled to start at 3 p.m. ET on Tuesday, March 26 at the UK Softball Complex.
UK (15-14, 1-5 Southeastern Conference) is coming off of a three-game Southeastern Conference series loss at the hands of Ole Miss this past weekend in Oxford, Miss. Akron (11-5) is also coming off of a sweep, having taken out Mid-American Conference foe Miami (Ohio) in a three-game set at Miami.
The Wildcats and Zips have met four previous times, all in Lexington, with UK holding a 3-1 advantage in the series. UK has won the last three, including a doubleheader sweep during the 2000 season.
Last season, UK downed the Zips, 12-7, as part of the UK Invitational Tournament. Angie Dal Pozzo had a day to remember last year as she became the first Wildcat softball player to hit for the cycle. Her four hits, four runs scored and 10 total bases all either tied or established then-UK records.
The game can be followed live on the Internet at UKathletics.com.
