The Kentucky softball team continues Southeastern Conference play as the Wildcats travel to Baton Rouge on Saturday, April 21, to face No. 5 (USA Today/NFCA) LSU (39-8, 18-3 SEC) at Tiger Park. The three-game series gets underway with a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m. The series will conclude with a single game at noon on Sunday, April 22.”LSU’s play has been quite impressive,” UK coach Beth Kirchner said. “We will need to bring our best game in order to beat them.”
UK (24-24, 7-12 SEC) has won four in a row, including a doubleheader sweep of in-state rival Louisville last Wednesday. The Wildcat pitching staff has recorded an ERA of 1.45 during the win streak.
The Tigers have won eight of their last nine games and sport the league’s best record at 18-3.
Sophomore Morgan Marr leads the UK pitching staff with 14 wins on the season and an ERA of 2.73, while freshman hurler Monique Lovell has won four in a row. Junior shortstop Angie Dal Pozzo leads the squad at the plate with a .356 batting average and 34 RBI.
