University of Kentucky junior shortstop Angie Dal Pozzo has been named to the 2001 Verizon Academic All-America Softball Second Team. Honorees are selected by a vote of the College Sports Information Directors of America based on athletic and academic accomplishments during the past season.

Dal Pozzo, a mechanical engineering major, started all 61 games and helped guide the 2001 Wildcats to their second consecutive Southeastern Conference Tournament appearance. Dal Pozzo led the squad with a .357 batting average, seven home runs and 40 RBI.

The Livingston, Ill. native was inducted into UK’s Frank G. Ham Society of Character last Fall, and was recently named to the 2001 SEC Academic Honor Roll.
