(Mar. 16, 2001) — The University of Kentucky softball team will play host to SEC-rival Florida in a three-game series this weekend at the UK Softball Complex. Action gets underway Saturday, March 17, with a noon doubleheader. The series is scheduled to conclude with a single game at noon Sunday, March 18.
“We have a very important three-team conference series coming up,” UK coach Beth Kirchner said. “It is important to get off on the right foot with Florida. We have had some time over break to rejuvenate and we are ready to attack conference play. “
The Wildcats (14-13, 1-1 SEC) are 8-3 on the current homestand, including a sweep of last Tuesday’s doubleheader against Indiana. Florida (17-8, 3-3 SEC) is coming off a six-game stretch during which the Gators won three games and lost three games against conference-foes LSU and Mississippi State.
Last season the Cats were 3-1 against the visitors from Gainesville during the regular season and 0-1 versus the Gators in the SEC tournament.
