LEXINGTON, Kty. — The University of Kentucky softball team will travel to face intrastaterival Eastern Kentucky on Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. in Richmond, Ky.Last season in Lexington, UK defeated the Colonels 7-0 and 8-0 in adoubleheader.

“We are excited to go down and face Eastern Kentucky on Wednesday,” UKcoach Beth Kirchner said. “We showed improvements last weekend and I thinkwe are getting better each time we hit the field.”

On Saturday afternoon in Bowling Green, Ky., EKU (4-5) dropped adoubleheader to Western Kentucky, losing 4-2 in seven innings and 3-2 innine innings.

UK (6-9) is coming off a successful weekend at the Sonic Challenge inChattanooga, where the Cats took home second place with a tournament recordof 3-1. The Cats finished the tourney with a two-game winning streak,scoring a 8-3 win over Liberty and a 4-1 triumph over Marshall.
