The University of Kentucky softball team was recently honored with a 16th-place finish on the Division I All-Academic Team, as voted by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

The NFCA bases its rankings on team grade-point averages submitted for the 1997-98 school year. Through this program, the organization honors high school and collegiate softball teams for their success in the classroom.

“I am quite proud of the academic success last year’s team achieved,” UK coach Beth Kirchner said. “Our goals for the upcoming year remain high, and with the assistance of the CATS center, in combination with hard work, our team should again experience these same results in the classroom.”
