The University of Kentucky softball team posted 10 hits to claim a 6-3 win over Wright State in the final game of the Kentucky Invitational Tournament on Sunday.

Wright State opened the game with a run in the first, before UK took the lead for good with a four-run second. Lindsay Houser started the inning with a single and scored two batters later when Sarah Snider reached on an error. Crystal Grace followed with a base hit to move Snider to second before Tiffany Kruse’s single loaded the bases with just one out. Michelle Bucci singled to score Snider and Leslie Kwiatkowski singled to score Grace. Jacki Haynes then hit a sacrifice fly to score Kruse, giving UK four runs on five hits.

UK (10-15) added two more runs in the fourth to extend its lead. Kruse started with a walk and moved to second when Bucci reached on a fielder’s choice. Kwiatkowski followed with a single to score Kruse from second. After Kwiatkowski stole second, Haynes ripped a single to score and give the Wildcats a 6-1 lead. The Raiders added two runs on the fifth, but UK held on for the 6-3 win.

Lorie Horner picked up the win for UK, giving up just six hits with four strikeouts. Kwiatkowski finished the game 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBI and a run scored, while Haynes was 2-for-2 with two RBI. The Wildcats continue action on Tuesday, as they travel to meet Indiana State in Terre Haute, Ind.
