The University of Kentucky softball team plays host to its final non-conference doubleheader of the season on Wednesday, as the Miami (Ohio) RedHawks invade the UK Softball Stadium for an evening twinbill.
The first pitch of Wednesday’s doubleheader is set for 6 p.m., while the second game is scheduled for approximately 8 p.m.
In their last outing, the Wildcats outhit LSU, who are ranked sixth in the nation in batting, only to drop a pair of hard-fought contests to the Tigers. Pitcher Keary Camunas allowed LSU just eight total hits in two complete games, holding the Tigers to less than half of their 8.9 hits-per-game average. Camunas got help from the UK defense as well, as the Wildcats did not committ an error in the first game against LSU.
Miami enters the doubleheader with a 22-24 record after dropping three of four games over the weekend. The two teams met earlier this season, with Kentucky claiming a 1-0, eight-inning decision at the Eastern Kentucky Invitational on March 6.
Following Wednesday’s games, the Wildcats play host to Southeastern Conference rival Tennessee in a pair of doubleheaders this weekend.
