Kentucky Cheerleading Adds New Assistant Coaches

Kentucky cheerleading  head coach Jomo Thompson has announced the addition of three new assistant coaches.

Ryan Brown, a former Kentucky cheerleader, helped the team win their 20th championship in 2014. Before his time at Kentucky,  he cheered at Hofstra University where he won three consecutive titles in the UCA D1 small coed division. He was also a member of Team USA in 2014, where he won the ICU world championship. Brown has cheered for NBA teams like the Brooklyn Nets, as well as two  NBA All Star games. He earned a degree in Communications from the University of Kentucky. Ryan will be the head coach of White Squad and will assist Jomo on Blue Squad. 

Debbie Love joins the staff with previous experience coaching with Gym Tyme, the University of Louisville, Twist-N-Shout, Pep Club, Kentucky Elite All Stars, and other various gyms and programs. Love serves on the board of USASF and was inducted in to the Hall of Fame in 2010. She is an international clinician in injury prevention, flexibility, sport psychology, baskets, and tumbling. Debbie earned her degree from Memphis State University, where she participated in a number of sports, including gymnastics, track, diving and cheerleading. 

Ben Head will transition from the court to assist in a graduate role. He cheered for the Kentucky program from 2012 until he graduated in May. Ben is from Owensboro, Kentucky. In Owensboro, he cheered for the Cheer Zone All Stars, and now brings forth a background in diving and power tumbling. He helped the White Squad win four titles at CheerSport. He has a fun spirit, mixed with a competitive attitude, which will be a great asset for our program.
