No. 12 Kentucky Welcomes No. 18 Missouri to John Cropp Stadium
LEXINGTON, Ky. – After a thrilling 2-1 win on
Wednesday night at John Cropp Stadium thanks to an Abbey Cheek two-run home run
in the bottom of the sixth, the No. 12 University of Kentucky softball team
will welcome the No. 18 Missouri Tigers to Lexington for a three-game series
kicking off on Friday night in Lexington.
Friday’s game will start at 6 p.m. ET and be
shown live on the SEC Network+ with Mark Buerger and Carol Bruggeman on the
call. Buerger and Bruggeman will have the call on Saturday afternoon at 5 p.m.
ET on the SEC Network+ before a Noon ET finale against the Tigers on Sunday
afternoon with Cara Capuano joining Bruggeman in the booth for an ESPNU
national telecast.
All three games will be available on the ESPN3
and the WatchESPN app on smartphones and tablets as well.
The Missouri Tigers enter the weekend series
with Kentucky sitting on a 28-10 overall record in 2016, and a 5-7 mark in the
Southeastern Conference. Last time out on Wednesday night, the Tigers took both
games of a doubleheader with Wichita State, outscoring the shockers 11-0 and
9-2 in the two games played. Mizzou was swept by the Georgia Bulldogs last
weekend in SEC play, losing three close games to UGA at University Field in
Columbia.
All-SEC player Sami Fagan leads the Tigers offensively,
batting .450 on the season with 50 hits, 43 runs scored, and 10 homers to go
along with 40 RBI. Fagan joins Taylor Gadbois in the .400 club, as Gadbois
enters the weekend at .421 on the year with a team-leading 12 home runs and 42
RBI. Mizzou has seven players batting over .300 on the season, including
All-SEC player Emily Crane.
In the circle for the Tigers, Danielle
Baumgartner leads the way with a 1.95 ERA and a 12-3 record in her 23
appearances. She has pitched 82 innings, second behind the 103.2 innings thrown
by Paige Lowary. Lowary has a 4.19 ERA this season and a 15-5 overall record on
the year. She has appeared in (26) and started (19) more games than any other
Tiger this season. Cheyenne Baxter is the third pitcher the Tigers will use,
and she sports a 3.76 ERA.
On Wednesday night, Kentucky junior Meagan
Prince picked up her team-leading 16th win of the season on Wednesday, throwing
three full innings of scoreless action, only allowing one hit to the 10 batters
she faced. Prince is now 16-2 on the year and sports a 1.81 ERA in the circle
for Kentucky.

and lower paved parking lots adjacent to John Cropp Stadium. In the event
that those lots fill spectators will be directed to park in the grass lot near
College Way and Wildcat Court.
