LEXINGTON, Kty. – Despite eight strikeouts from pitcher Keary Camunas, the University of Kentucky softball team dropped a 5-3 decision to Tennessee at the UK Softball Stadium on Saturday.

Tennessee jumped on the board early, scoring once in the first and twice in the third for a 3-0 advantage. But UK (19-43, 6-22 SEC) answered with three runs of its own to tie the game in the bottom of the third. Michelle Bucci singled to start the third inning and advanced to third on a Tiffany Kruse single. Senior Jacki Haynes followed with UK’s third straight hit, scoring Bucci and advancing Kruse to third. Susan Moore walked to load the bases and Lexington native Amy Anderson answered with her second double in as many days, scoring Kruse and Haynes to tie the game at 3-3.

But Tennessee came back with two runs in the fourth to steal the lead and held on for the 5-3 victory. In game two, the Volunteers used a seven-run fourth inning to surge past UK, 11-2. Haynes, playing in her last game as a Wildcat, finished the two games 4-for-4 at the plate with a run scored and an RBI. Senior Lorie Horner also played her final two games in Kentucky blue, as both she and Haynes were honored before the doubleheader. Anderson, a product of Lafayette High School, finished the day 2-for-5 at the plate, with a run scored and two RBI.
