TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Kentucky softball team fell to 1999College World Series participant Arizona, 8-0, in five innings due to theeight-run rule Saturday night at Hillenbrand Stadium on the second day of theWildcat Invitational.

UK held the host Wildcats scoreless for the first three innings beforeUA struck for five runs in the fourth inning. Lauren Bauer singled to start theinning and Jenny Collins reached on an error by UK second baseman Nikki Jones.Chrissy Gil followed with a bases-clearing triple that scored two runs. UA wenton to add three more runs in the inning to take a 5-0 lead.

UA added three solo home runs in the top of fifth for the game’s finalmargin.

Jennie Finch earned the win for UA, moving her record to 5-0, whileKeary Camunas took the loss for the Cats, dropping her record to 0-4.

In UK’s second game, the Cats lost to No. 8 Oklahoma for the secondtimein two weeks by a score of 13-4.

OU took the lead in the second inning on a sole home run to rightcenterby Mandy Fulton.

The Sooners added two more runs in the bottom of the third inning whenLeah Gulla doubled in two runs, giving OU a 3-0 lead. In the bottom of thefourth, OU put six more runs across as the Sooners built a 9-0 lead.

UK scored three runs in the bottom of the on three straight singles byTiffany Kruse, Andi Eilertson, and Jamie Dardis. Jen Howland reached on afielders choice to score Eilertson from third. Nikki Jones singled to scoreDardis as the Cats cut OU’s lead to 10-3.

The Cats added another run in the top of the sixth when Andi Eilertsongrouded out, scoring Angie Dal Pozzo from third.

OU scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to end the game via theeight-run rule.

UK pitcher Jen Howland fell to 2-2 on the season.

The Cats return to action on Sunday when the Cats take on Penn State at11 a.m. (EST).
