Wildcats take on Nittany Lions Sunday at 11:30 a.m. EST.

TUCSON, Ariz. (Feb. 19, 2000) — The University of Kentuckysoftball team fell to 1999 College World Seriesparticipant Arizona, 8-0, in five innings due to theeight-run rule Saturday night at Hillenbrand Stadiumon the second day of the Wildcat Invitational.

UK held the host Wildcats scoreless for the firstthree innings before UA struck for five runs in thefourth inning. Lauren Bauer singled to start theinning and Jenny Collins reached on an error by UKsecond baseman Nikki Jones. Chrissy Gil followedwith a bases-clearing triple that scored two runs.UA went on to add three more runs in the inning totake a 5-0 lead.

UA added three solo home runs in the top of fifthfor the game’s final margin.

Jennie Finch earned the win for UA, moving herrecord to 5-0, while Keary Camunas took the lossfor the Cats, dropping her record to 0-4.

In UK’s second game, the Cats lost to No. 8 Oklahoma for the second timein two weeks by a score of 13-4.

OU took the lead in the second inning on a sole home run to right center byMandy Fulton.

The Sooners added two more runs in the bottom of the third inning whenLeah Gulla doubled in two runs, giving OU a 3-0 lead. In the bottom of thefourth, OU put six more runs across as the Sooners built a 9-0 lead.

UK scored three runs in the bottom of the on three straight singles by TiffanyKruse, Andi Eilertson, and Jamie Dardis. Jen Howland reached on a fielderschoice to score Eilertson from third. Nikki Jones singled to score Dardis asthe Cats cut OU’s lead to 10-3.

The Cats added another run in the top of the sixth when Andi Eilertsongrouded out, scoring Angie Dal Pozzo from third.

OU scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to end the game via theeight-run rule.

UK pitcher Jen Howland fell to 2-2 on the season.

The Cats return to action on Sunday when the Cats take on Penn State at 11a.m. (EST).
