Beth Fogle sparks softball squad’s offense with 3-for-4 day.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Feb. 26, 2000) — The University ofKentucky softball team defeated the Liberty LadyFlames, 8-3, on Saturday afternoon at the ChooChoo Tournament.

UK (5-9) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the firstinning when Beth Fogle scored from third on a basehit by Leslie Kwiatkowski. Fogle reached on abase hit and then stole second and third beforescoring on Kwiatkowski’s single.

In the bottom of the third inning, UK pitcher KearyCamunas walked in two runs with the bases loaded,allowing LU to take a 2-1 lead.

Junior Tiffany Kruse stroked a double to left center,scoring Leslie Kwiatkowski from first base to thetie the game, 2-2. UK took the lead in the top ofthe fifth when the Cats added four runs with thehelp of two errors by the Lady Flames. JenHowland, Fogle, Nikki Jones, and Lyndsey Angusscored four consecutive runs as the Cats neverlooked back.

The Cats added two runs in the top of the seventhwhen Angus doubled to score Jones from first base.Kruse grounded out to second base, scoring Angusfrom third base.

UK pitcher Keary Camunas moved her record to2-6 with the win, while Amy Cisder fell to 0-2 forthe Lady Flames. Fogle led the Cats at the plate, going 3-4 with three singlesand two stolen bases. Kruse was 2-4 with a single and a double to go alongwith two RBIs.

UK returns to action on Sunday when the Cats take on Marshall at 10:30a.m. and will close out the tournament against Temple at 12:30 p.m.
