The University of Kentucky softball team dropped its 16th game in a row and the third to SEC foe South Carolina, Sunday at the UK Softball Complex. The 14th-ranked Gamecocks (28-10, 12-5) managed 12 hits against the Cats, who fell to 9-29 overall and 1-17 in the SEC.
Four Carolina batters had multiple hits in the game, led by Meghan Cornett who was 3-4 with two doubles. For Kentucky, Lyndsey Angus hit safely in her third straight game and four other UK batters had singles but threats in the third, fifth and sixth innings led to no runs and four runners left on base.
The Wildcats will travel to Knoxville on Monday to take on the Lady Vols in a three-game series Tuesday and Wednesday. They will then come back to Lexington for a night before flying to Baton Rouge for a series with the 11th-ranked LSU Tigers.
