The University of Kentucky softball team (10-38) will travel down I-64 to take on the Louisville Cardinals (19-18) in a mid-week doubleheader, April 23 at Ulmer Stadium. The first game of the twinbill is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. ET.
The Cards are coming off a series with South Florida where they were swept by the 21st-ranked Bulls. Kentucky was swept by Auburn in a weekend series, losing the final two games by a one run apiece.
Seniors Lyndsey Angus and Nikki Jones continue to lead the Cats in nearly every offensive category. Angus recently moved into second place in the Kentucky record books with her 44th career double.
The Cardinals are led offensively by junior Shannon Nord who is sporting a .343 batting average. Senior Keola Calderon and sophomore Sara Bausher are also batting over .300 for the Cards. In the pitcher’s circle, senior Jassica Rak has been the leader for U of L. Rak comes in with a 11-8 record and a 2.31 ERA.
Louisville is coached by Sandy Pearsall who is in her fourth year at the helm of the Cardinals program. At Louisville she has amassed a 122-98 record.
Kentucky holds a 6-3 series advantage on the Cards. The teams split a pair of games last year in Lexington.
