The UK softball team will look for its eighth straight win with a mid-week contest against intrastate rival Louisville on Tuesday, Mar. 8, in Lexington. First pitch for the single game is scheduled for 4 PM at the UK Softball Complex.
Kentucky is now 11-14 on the year, while the Cardinals are 10-7 this season after going 2-2 at their own tournament last weekend.
The Wildcats have won two straight tournament titles after a perfect 4-0 record at the Kentucky Invitational over the weekend. With a win Tuesday, they would set a new school record for consecutive victories.
This marks the 14th meeting between the Cats and Cards on the diamond. UofL leads the series 9-4 after the two split a doubleheader on Mar. 24 last season.
?Louisville is a talented team and will be a great test for our team,? said head coach Eileen Schmidt. ?They?re been ranked nationally and are Southeastern Conference-caliber team, so that will help prepare us for the weekend when we open up conference play.?
