The Kentucky softball team will play its first Southeastern Conference road series when it travels to Tuscaloosa to take on No. 9 Alabama. The three-game series kicks off with a Saturday doubleheader on Mar. 19 with games at 1 and 3 p.m. The series finale will be played Sunday, Mar. 20, at 1:30 p.m.
The Wildcats are currently 12-19 overall and 1-5 in SEC play following home series with Ole Miss and No. 13 Georgia. The Crimson Tide is 28-6 on the year and owns a 1-2 record in conference play. Alabama?s two league losses came at No. 4 Tennessee.
This marks the 22nd meeting all-time between UK and UA. The Tide holds a 19-1 lead in the all-time series. The lone Kentucky win came last season when UK defeated UA, 7-5, in the second of a three-game series in Lexington.
?We did a lot of good things in the series with Ole Miss and Georgia,? said head coach Eileen Schmidt. ?We just need to work on putting together a complete game. We played well for five innings and then had a letdown. We just need to keep our intensity and focus for the full seven innings this weekend.?
