The Kentucky softball team will travel to Louisville on Wednesday, Apr. 27, for the second and final game between the two intra-state rivals this season. The single game is set for a 5 p.m. start.
Kentucky has lost three in a row after suffering a sweep last weekend in Arkansas to fall to 19-35 on the year. The Cardinals have won six straight contests to up their record to 32-16 overall.
Sophomores Brooke Marnitz and Jenny Sibert continue to lead the Wildcats at the plate. Marnitz is batting a team-high .304 in 41 games, while Sibert has a .281 average in 30 appearances this year for the Cats. Senior Jessica Nance has swung a hot bat of late to lift her average to .230. She leads the team with 12 stolen bases and is the top run producer with 18 runs batted in on the season.
The Wildcats won the first meeting between the two schools just 13 days ago in Lexington. UK defeated the Cardinals, 3-2, behind the strength of Amber Janneck?s two-run homerun. The Cats now lead 10-4 in the all-time series.
