The Kentucky softball team dropped a 6-0 shutout decision at Louisville today, Apr. 27, to move its record to 19-36 on the year. The Cardinals are now 33-16 overall this season with the victory.
Junior Amy Kendall was tagged with the loss to move to 2-5 on the year. She allowed six runs on 10 hits over 4.0 innings of work. Kendall tied a season-high as she struck out six and walked just one batter on the day.
Freshman Samantha Allen tossed two innings of relief and did not allow a hit, while striking out two during that span.
UofL?s Catherine Bishop (18-7) tossed a gem for the Cardinals, striking out a career-high 11 en route to the complete game shutout.
Junior Meghan Cooper broke up her perfect game in the top of the fifth with a single. Sophomore Katie Campbell followed with a one-out single, but both were stranded to end the Kentucky scoring threat.
The Wildcats return to action this weekend, Apr. 30, as they return to Southeastern Conference action. Kentucky will host No. 21 Auburn at the UK Softball Complex for a three-game series which opens with a doubleheader on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
