The Kentucky softball team fell to No. 23 Florida today, May 9, by a final score of 8-0. The six-inning loss moves UK?s final record to 20-41 overall and 4-25 in the Southeastern Conference. The Gators improve to 41-19 and 18-12 in the SEC.
The Gators plated a run in each of the first five innings, added a three-spot in the fifth and a single run in the sixth to go on top by a score of 8-0.
Starting pitcher Samantha Allen stranded six runners over her first four innings of work. She left the bags full of Gators in the third when she got Lacy Howard to swing at strike three. Reliever Amy Kendall left the bases loaded in both innings she tossed for the Wildcats.
The Wildcat bats managed just five hits on the day. Senior Jessica Nance went 1-for-2 in her final game in a Kentucky uniform with a single and a hit by pitch. Meghan Cooper led off the fifth with a double, while Amber Janneck, Megan Glenn and Katie Campbell each singled in the loss.
Allen took the loss to move to 12-17 on the year, while Stacey Stevens got the win for Florida to go to 24-11.
The Wildcats end their season with the loss to the Gators.
