Kentucky to Host Auburn and Alabama for Weekend Matchups
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 51 Kentucky women’s tennis team (12-7, 4-4 SEC) will take on No. 13 Auburn (14-5, 4-3 SEC) on Friday at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex for a Noon EST match. The Cats will be back at the Boone on Sunday as well for a Noon match with No. 58 Alabama.
The Wildcats look to expand on their current five-match win streak with three consecutive wins in the Southeastern Conference. The three-match conference streak is the longest since April 2017.
UK is coming off a victorious week finding two home wins against Eastern Kentucky and road victories against SEC opponents Missouri and No. 54 Arkansas.
In the most recent match against Arkansas, the Cats found victory through a total team effort, backing up their ranked stars with solid play throughout the lineup. Kentucky won at least one set on all six singles courts, in addition to going a perfect 2-0 in doubles play. No. 48-ranked singles player Florencia Urrutia, Carlota Molina and Lidia Gonzalez all turned in 2-0 performances on the day.
The Wildcats and Tigers last went head-to-head last season, resulting in a 6-1 Auburn victory, with Kentucky last facing the Crimson Tide a year ago, resulting in a 4-0 Wildcat defeat.
Both weekend matches will be available to watch on Track Tennis and fans can follow along with live stats as well. As always, admission to home matches at the Boone is free to the public and free pizza will available in the lobby.
