The Kentucky Softball program and head coach Rachel Lawson announced the addition of transfer Kennedy Sullivan to the program on July 23. Sullivan comes to UK after three years at Western Kentucky University and has two years of eligibility remaining.
Sullivan is a dual-threat player, going 9-0 in the circle as a pitcher in 2020 with a 2.40 ERA in 70 innings pitched coupled with a .358 batting average, 14 home runs and a team-leading 49 runs batted in. For her great 2021 season, she was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches’ Association All-Mideast Region Team.
A native of Scott County, Kentucky, Sullivan was named the 2021 Conference USA Tournament MVP, helping lead the Hilltoppers to an NCAA Tournament berth in May, the school’s first since 2013.
“Kennedy is a fierce competitor who will bring versatility to the lineup and our bullpen,” Lawson said. “She is a high-character athlete who has a terrific work ethic in the classroom and will be a tremendous asset for our team.”
In addition to her stand-out stats on the field, Sullivan also has been stellar in the classroom logging a 4.0 grade point average, making the WKU Dean’s List and Conference USA’s Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
Sullivan was tagged NFCA All-Region in 2019 as a freshman, named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team and threw the 13th no-hitter in program history against Evansville in 2019.
