No. 5 Florida Claims Series With 9-0 Win on Saturday
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 5 Florida Softball team beat Kentucky 9-0 in five innings Saturday afternoon to claim the series. The series finale will be Sunday at 1 p.m. ET live on SEC Network+ with Noah Frary and Jenny Dalton-Hill on the call from John Cropp Stadium.
Florida scored in every inning Saturday afternoon, leading to a 9-0 win over the Wildcats with two three spots in the third and fourth innings to put the game out of reach. All-SEC performers Taylor Schumaker and Jocelyn Erickson went 4-for-7 in he game with a combined four runs scored and three RBI in the contest.
Florida’s starting pitcher Katelynn Oxley went the distance for the complete-game win, as she allowed only two Kentucky hits, no walks and seven strikeouts in the game.
Florida with the win improves to 27-1 overall and is now a perfect 5-0 in SEC play. Kentucky saw its losing streak run to a season-high four games and is now 1-4 in SEC action and 19-8 overall on the season.

Key Player
Kentucky’s key player was Karissa Hamilton who led off the bottom of the second inning with a single into LF to get a rally going for the Wildcats.
Key Moment
Jocelyn Erickson’s home run in the top of the third inning was the key moment. The home made things 4-0 after it was only a 2-0 lead for the Gators through two.
Key Stat
- Kentucky only managed two baserunners in the game.
Pitching Recap
Hailey Nutter started the game and went the opening two innings, allowing four runs on four hits with three of them earned. She also recorded a strikeout. McKenzie Oslanzi then entered the game and threw the remaining three innings, allowing five runs on five hits with four of them earned and a strikeout.
