Lexington, Ky. – Kentucky women’s tennis (6-1) will play in a doubleheader on Wednesday, hosting Bellarmine (6-11) for both matches, starting at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. The matches will be the last of the Wildcats non-conference play as they begin SEC play starting Feb. 21, with an matchup against the University of Tennessee Volunteers in Knoxville.

The Wildcats have come off of a doubleheader sweep last Sunday, finishing 6-1against Xavier and 7-0 against Chicago State. Each player put on incredible displays of talent and endurance through tight matches. The wins were led by Junior Julia Zhu who led in singles on the first court and Freshman Reese Sager who got her first clean sweep of the season in singles, as well as Asunción Jadue who made a stellar comeback in the first match against Xavier to lead the Wildcats to victory and continue her winning streak in singles with a 6-0 record.

Senior and No. 93 Zoe Hammond led the team in swift victories in both doubles and singles with her decisive play and consistency. These Wildcats intend on leading the team to another victory this Wednesday as they take on Bellarmine at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex with intentions to play the match outside, considering weather conditions accommodate.

Wednesday will close out the Women’s tennis non-conference play and will put them in high gear to prepare for the intense SEC play coming up. Both of Wednesday’s matches will be free admission, but fans that cannot attend are encouraged to follow the live results via StatBroadcast and the live steam on UKAthletics.com.
